Turquoise Acid Dye

Ingredients

  • 10 gms skein sock yarn

  • 20ml (1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon) Turquoise Dye Stock

  • Water

  • 1 teaspoon Citric Acid

  • Dye Stock
  • 1 teaspoon Turquoise Acid Dye Powder
    (Note: Remember to wear a face mask when handling dry dye powder)

Directions

  • Follow the instructions to pre-soak the yarn in Citric acid
  • Make dye stock by adding 1 teaspoon of the Acid Dye to 500 ml Water and stir until dissolved
  • Add 1 teaspoon of Citric Acid to 1 litre of Water
  • Untwist yarn and add to Citric Acid water and soak for 1 hour
  • Add 2 cups of water to a pan
  • Add 20ml dye stock to the pan (1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon)
  • Add yarn and gently simmer for 20 minutes until the water is clear
  • Leave to cool
  • Rinse, dry and admire
